How to Fertilize

Before I planted my rhubarb last week a local farmer was visiting and after viewing my efforts he insisted that I get some horse manure as that was the thing - not cow manure - "be sure it's horse manure, now."

Tomorrow I am off to see the lady down the road who has two horses....

This reminds me of when I used to live in France and every time the circus came to town my then neighbor would hasten off with two large pails to collect elephant dung. He had lived in the East and assured me that elephant dung was the very best.

I think I'll have to make do with the filly down the road.
