Show Your Support For
The Wakefield-Rhubarb-Run

rhubarb race

Get your kids involved in the Wakefield-Rhubarb-Run over at
Pugney's-Leisure-Park this year.

According to a recent press release, there will be a new
event this year added to the Rhubarb Festival.

It is hoped by the Wakefield-Council that this event will
promote a healthier way of eating and that exercise is
very important to all as well.

February 27th and 28th are the days scheduled for the main
Festival, but the rhubarb run will be held at Pugney's Park
on February 25th, 2009.

UPDATE - Thursday February 25, 2010 4:00 p.m.

The run will consist of children from primary schools in the
district, aged 10 and 11 years old. There will be teams of
6, and each person has to carry a stick of rhubarb with
them.

They will have to run a 1.6 mile course which goes around
the area of the Park. The goal for the winning team will be
to get 4 members of one team across the finish line first,
and of course they will have to have their stick of rhubarb.

The intent of this event is not only to promote healthy
eating and excercise, but to expand on the already highly
successful Festival that runs every year.

The Council is hoping for support from community members by
their attendance at this new event and hopefully it will
remain a part of the Festival activities from now on.
