Finally...How To Build-A-Website

I decided I wanted to build-a-website in the summer of 2007. Actually, I had thought about it long before that, as I had admired so many family sites I saw while doing some ancestry researching.

But, I quickly put the idea out of my mind a number times for the same old reasons. I had no technical skills to speak of, for one thing.

I use a computer at work, but that is certainly not the same thing as web-building. I always did what most of us do daily in our "internet routines." Check the email, send a few emails, surf around, read the news, look at a horoscope maybe, and that was it.

I got involved with one program in particular, but found myself staring at that blank screen not having a clue what to do. I had no knowledge or support or instruction whatsoever to even begin to implement anything. It did teach me that a number of "mechanics" need to be in place in order to make a page live on the web. Ok...and where do I get that?

No idea. No answers. No clue.

I could not make head nor tail out of anything I was reading, and to make a very long and painful story short, I just threw up my hands in disgust one day, and came to some conclusions:

I did not train professionally in the world of "computers" and so I will never be able to do this. Secondly, I concluded that those who had websites, must have the luxury of a full-fledged Computer Technician and/or Professional Webmaster in the family who does everything for them.

(and hey, that certainly doesn't hurt!) But, it's not reality for most people.

And so, that was that!

And I wasn't any further ahead at all in knowing how to
build-a-website.

And then one day over the summer, I saw the ad for
"Site Build It" or "SBI" as I will refer to it.

I looked at it, and became quite impressed with what I
was seeing, though still very skeptical at the same time. I returned to the video a number of times, because it just
kept sticking in the back of my mind. I knew I wanted
to build-a-website, and this looked like just the system
to get me there.

I remember the day I clicked the button, and committed. And I also distinctly remember saying to myself "Well,
now look what you have done" based on my past bitter
disappointments.

I haven't looked back since.

I hardly know where to begin to express how I feel
about what SBI has taught me, and allowed me to do.

It brings out the desire in me to learn more and more,
that I know for a fact.

It has given me an understanding of the ways of the web and why things are done a certain way.

People building businesses need to be aware that if they
are not seen, then what is the point? You need customers
for a business to work, and so you need to build-traffic.

So many people nowadays want to build a home-based-business
or enhance the one they already have. So many Moms
out there want to do something from home to call their
own, but don't know where to start.

If you have some idea in mind for a site, you even get
the tools and resources to research that idea first to
see how feasible it could be if you want to make-money-online.

Maybe you are now just as curious as I was and just want to
build a site as a hobby and share some good information, but
don't know how to get started?

At the very end of this page, there is a free book you can
download to look at. It's a wonderful book full of lots of
resourceful reading that will enable you to make the most of
the information to enable you to build-a-website that works
the way it should.

SBI does give you the knowledge and the tools to
make it happen. In fact, SBI also takes care of
the mechanics for you everytime you build a page to
get your content out there. I especially liked the
Action Guide which allowed me to not only follow
the screens, but to copy it first, and go over it
at my own pace curled up on the couch.

The best way to learn how to build-a-website is to go
slowly and absorb what you read or see. And, it's quite
a good feeling to implement something you have learned
and realize it wasn't that difficult...but then, you've
had a good teacher.

I can't speak highly enough about the Support Forum
of SBI owners who are available 24-7 to answer any
question you might have while building your site. They are a tremendous and caring group of people.

I would like to summarize as best I can, by simply saying
that at one point I had no idea how or where or with whom
to get a website up and running.

I didn't know how to even begin to build-a-website at all.

I didn't know how to put a picture or a video on a site.

I didn't know how to even change the colors of words or their sizes for web building.

I didn't know how to show a link for valuable information
to another site through a program called Value Exchange which is a very important part of the process.

SBI taught me all about this as well.

There are not enough pages to list everything that SBI
has to offer. If you are where I was at one time, or for
whatever your reasons for wanting to build-a-website of your
own, take a look at the videos. You will see for yourself
the value and the incredible tools SBI will give you to
finally get started like I did.
